He was a young boy growing up in Magna Utah learning piano and this led to an interest in music. During his jr years became a very proficient clarinet player for concert band while listening to rock and pop cassette tapes and vinyl. During the advent of CD's he started learning guitar and going to
concerts. He'd carry the guitar case around school and go the jazz band room.
These were the times that molded him as a musician and ultimately as music
producer. During his senior year he played solo guitar with the jazz band and
would energize the audience and sports team up playing rock versions of
Childhood and teenage years were awkward yet he kept his interest
in music and friends. Outside pressures, family dramas and strife, the loss of his
uncle and dealing with ridicule sometimes weighed enormously causing a lot of
grief. Sometimes just staying in a closed room with his guitar and amp were the
only solace that could be found. Going downtown, performing at coffee shops,
busking on the streets of Park City, jamming with friends became a cathartic
escape. Learning to produce CD's led to bands forming, performing
at festivals, regional touring and to creating new amazing projects. It was always
difficult trying and make the music while
simultaneously working and navigating companies in tech world. Sometimes it was tough to collaborate
on ideas if those in his inner circles were
not having an open mind to the creative endeavors. In his young twenties he
moved to Las Vegas briefly, then back to Salt Lake City. Looking back years later
that time was more successful than he gave himself credit. His frequent trips to
the Northwest and California set the tone for wanting to get on the road and explore.
During his time in the tech world writing code he developed a project called
Sodacon which led to several albums and became the name of his label. The space
rock project was underrated and not on the radar yet also
responsible for countless shows, several cd albums and more tours.
The best part of his story was later meeting his wife and raising his son.
His wife helped to balance out things that were affecting him vice versa
working as a team they were able to live their best lives.
Together they moved to Las Vegas and started a new chapter, it was not always easy yet worth it.
Most days he enjoys mucking about the house cooking for wife and son, they draw and fly drone helicopters work on art and laugh.
They have now been in Vegas for several years. Marc unfortunately saw firsthand how the pandemic affected the city while
working on the strip. He has devoted his life to help educate as a teacherand help raise awareness for issues affecting everyone.
Now that he's had several cd's from prior project under his belt and a new style
of producing involving tape phasing, the Marc Antarez project is a foundation for the future. The
amazing journey of his life survived inflated scorn and outside pressure to become a
rock statement of knowing who he is and has become. The Road Trip Rocker.
